DepartUK is a free, no-nonsense live train departure board for every National Rail station in Great Britain. Type a station name, and you immediately see the next departures — with real-time platforms, expected times, delays, cancellations, and full calling points for each service.
No account is required. DepartUK works in any modern browser as a Progressive Web App (PWA), meaning it can be added to your home screen and used offline for previously viewed stations.
DepartUK uses train departure data provided under licence from the Rail Delivery Group via the Darwin data feed — the same authoritative real-time data source used by National Rail Enquiries and the official Train Operating Companies. Darwin receives live updates directly from signalling systems across the network.
Data is refreshed continuously; departure boards on DepartUK update automatically every 60 seconds when you have a station open.
DepartUK covers all National Rail stations in England, Scotland, and Wales — over 2,500 stations in total — including:
Eurostar and international services are shown where they share National Rail infrastructure (e.g. London St Pancras HS1).
DepartUK is also available as a native Android app on Google Play. The app adds features beyond the web version:
Is DepartUK free?
Yes — the web version at departuk.com is completely free, with no account required. The Android app has a free tier and an optional premium subscription for advanced features.
How accurate is the departure information?
DepartUK displays data from the Darwin feed, which is sourced directly from Network Rail's real-time train movements. It's the same feed used by the official National Rail website. Accuracy depends on how promptly operators update Darwin — occasionally a train may show "On time" briefly before a delay is reported.
Does it show arrivals as well as departures?
Currently DepartUK shows departures only. Arrivals may be added in a future update.
Why can't I find a particular station?
DepartUK covers all stations served by National Rail services. Underground-only stations (London Underground, Overground-only stops, and DLR stations without a National Rail service) are not included, as they use separate data systems.
Can I use DepartUK offline?
If you add DepartUK to your home screen as a PWA, the app shell is cached and loads instantly. However, live departure data always requires an internet connection — trains can't be tracked without a live feed.
Who makes DepartUK?
DepartUK is built and maintained by Paddock App Studios Ltd, a small independent software company registered in England and Wales (company number 17216004). We're not affiliated with National Rail, Network Rail, or any Train Operating Company.
